Out the Front

I had a front lawn too. It didn't' last long. To counter the relatively water heavy veggies I planted the front with natives.

I imported some soil, put in a border to stop it all sliding into the drive. I found the concrete circle in the middle under the house.

Planted it up then mulched it up. I went for a yellow/ orange colour scheme with the following plants..

Grevilleas: Sandra Gordon, Superb, Honey Gem, Golden Lyre, Lemon Supreme & Carpet Queen (ground cover). I also planted a black grevillea from the south west that I can't find the name for.

Banksias: Hookerana, Attenuata (dwarf form) & Birthday Candles.

Kangaroo Paws: Yellow Gem, Gold Velvet, Black & Bush Ocre.

Leucospermum: Cape Gold

Eucalyptus Forrestiana (in the centre of the circle)

Peas

On the 7th of June I planted two half rows of telephone pole peas then a month later planted the remainder of the rows. They were pretty slow for a while until they hit the sheep poo deeper in the bed. The flowers of the first planting didn't appear until 700mm above the ground. I think this is due to the bed being new, with plenty of food, and the peas being to happy to grow away without bothering to reproduce. The second planting seems to be going the same way. The photo below was taken about three months after sowing.
